About the Role
As a Specialty Doctor in Urology, you will work closely with the Consultant Urologists and wider multidisciplinary team to deliver a comprehensive general urology service at QEH.
You will contribute to inpatient care, outpatient clinics, emergency urology, and elective operating lists, helping to support service delivery and reduce waiting times.
Responsibilities

Provide management of urology inpatients and outpatients for elective and emergency cases

Support outpatient clinics including LUTS, haematuria, prostate assessment, and follow‑up clinics

Assist in operating lists, including endoscopic and minor urological procedures

Participate in the urology on‑call rota (weekend on‑call expected as the service evolves)

Help reduce waiting lists across clinics and theatres

Manage urological emergencies such as torsion, obstructed kidneys, and acute retention
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- Minimum 4 years’ postgraduate training, including at least 2 years in Urology
- Experience managing inpatient and outpatient urological conditions
- Competency in minor urological procedures including flexible cystoscopy
- Evidence of supervising or training junior doctors
- Minimum 1 year of UK experience
- ALS (or willingness to obtain within a grace period)
Desirable:
- Interest in developing a subspecialty area
- Experience in teaching, audit, or service development
